Annual 2008
Aloha
Marina,
Mahalo to you and everyone at Ho'ike Hawai'i . .
. we had a great time! You always do such a wonderful
job. And hopefully you all got some rest afterwards.
It was great seeing all of you again, as well as
of course the Makaha Sons, Barry, Kealo, and everyone
that came with them, the vendors, the Hilton employees
. . . Looking forward to July 2009!

Aloha!!!!
...I’ve told everyone I know how much fun
and entertaining the Ho’Ike was. I’ve
also told many of our friends about the beautiful
praise hula and pule by Aunty Ilima. God blessed
the weekend and orchestrated some wonderful things.
I
knew it was a sign that we were led to be there
that weekend ...
God’s
perfect plan lead us to friendship with J, trip
to Ho’Ike, meeting you and Terri, and on and
on. I don’t know where it all leads but somehow
I have the feeling it’s supposed to be. We’re
looking forward to whatever happens. Looking forward
to seeing you again,
Love God, love people,
John
and Julie Carrigan
I
enjoyed seeing the Sons do their thing. That really
took me back. I wore a Kahala aloha shirt (I have
about a dozen of those) and a UH hat. I felt right
at home ..... Thanks again and hopefully this
will lead to more Hawaii-related events in the future.

Aloha
Kakou,
I
just returned from Orlando and the 10th Ho'ike and
Makaha Sons, Hoku Zuttermeister
concert. For you that did attend I know that you
had a WONDERFUL time. No one got much sleep but
it was well worth it. Didn't want to miss a thing.
My kudos to Uncle Hank, Marina and all of their
great crew for again bringing the Islands together
for us. If you missed it SO SORRY but you have another
chance next year as they will be back again. We
spent two days reacquainting ourselves with old
friends from all over. The hula competition was
fabulous and I really don't envy the judges having
to decide a winner.

Aloha
Uncle Hank,
Just a note to tell you how much we enjoyed this
year’s (our first) Ho’ike Hawai’i
competition, and evening concert with Makaha
Sons and Hoku Zuttermeister.
We were introduced to your outstanding event by
Jet and Kristin, close family friends from Jacksonville,
and are already making plans to attend next year’s
Ho’ike!

Aloha,
Marina!
It
was a pleasure meeting you and the others. And like
I said, you were so nice in your e-mails to me.
We really really enjoyed ourselves! Seeing first
John and then Jerome
and Moon first thing on entering
the lobby was such a nice, unexpected surprise,
as was meeting you! Everyone we met and talked
to during our whole stay was so nice and friendly.
It was such a wonderful, positive, fun experience.
We are looking forward to Hoike Hawaii 10; I
would appreciate your keeping me advised if you
get a chance. Also, I will check hoikehawaii.com.
It was interesting seeing the various dancers in
the competition, as well as the exhibitions. We
also purchased a lot of nice things. We enjoyed
the preshow with "Da Local Boys" and the
dancers. And we enjoyed the Makaha Sons'
concert very much. It was nice that the groups were
smaller and kind of more spread out than in Indianapolis
last year. And we also enjoyed your "emceeing" and
dancing. Have a good weekend. Mahalo again, and
we're looking forward to '07.
Take care,
Elizabeth Steinhauser
